Yes. And also to see if you can beat your best time without having to manually remember your best time, and stuff like that, and re-view your actions or show other people your actions, or competetively try to gain the fastest speed possible and compete with others. Oh, and also the Ring and Score emblems.

I thought record attack was forvveating your's and other people's times.
Yeah, and one of those times is the time emblem, which is a goal set by the developers for the player to beat. (Obviously not a developer's best time, but a good benchmark of what a decent player should strive for in a time attack!) While the ultimate goal of Record Attack is whatever you decide it to be, the Time (and other) emblems exclusive to the mode are the one concrete goal set for you by the game in the mode.
