Can emblems be earned in co-op?

Curses, I am having trouble getting Sonic's Emblem in GFZ1.

i have the solution for that problem... the sonic emblem is in the 1st house of GFZ1 to get there go to the spring near the spikes on that plataforms sight to the house (the house near the waterfall) then use your spin attack, on the edge jump and do your spin thok and thats it one emblem inus to your quest (also you win an emblem after unlock level select)

look in the water-filled tunnel to the right as tails to find it with a shield.

Look at the FAQ to find the Emblems, although you will ruin the fun for yourself that way.
