emblem problems

I can't find any emblems! Is there anything I could have done to turn them off? Can they be found in every mode? (easy, hard...)

I don't believe difficulty matters. You can't have any addons loaded or use any cheats, or they'll disappear.

Where is a real easy one to find? If I can find it... maybe the emblems do work.

Knuckles's emblem in GFZ1 is right up on a hill somewhere.
