It's just that, it doesn't reset the player data when switching maps. Players keep their rings, score, lives and emerald count. I'd assume they also keep other rather infrequent items, such as ring weapons and fire flowers, but I can't be sure. You aren't getting -noresetplayers back. Period. It's a cheat code and it's unnecessary. Go make your lame Hyper Sonic coop games another way.
