Default Name

Your default name is based on your Windows XP/2000 username. (default is player if you don't have either of those.)
You have to change that name to change your default srb2 name.

Still no-one reads the subject lines...

You can get around the problem, however, by adding the following line to the text file autoexec.cfg in your SRB2 folder (create it if it doesn't exist; make sure it's really autoexec.cfg and not autoexec.cfg.txt or anything similarly silly):

Code:
name "SomethingOtherThanSim"
It's case-sensitive IIRC. Also make sure that autoexec.cfg ends with a blank line.

The username Windows displays and your real username aren't necessarily the same thing. Whether or not your username is in fact Sim, though, the autoexec.cfg solution above should work.

Instead of "SomethingOtherThanSim" can't I put whatever I want? How do you make that auto whatever file? Im sort of a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff.

You simply open up notepad do what Draykon said, and save as autoexec.cfg.txt. Then go into explorer and rename it to autoexec.cfg.
Yes, you can have whatever you want there. I tested and figured out that you can also do color, but I would like to know how to set default character.

name "wanted name"
color "wanted color"
skin "wanted character"

Example: (My autoexec.cfg)

name "Draykon"
color "black"
skin "Tails"

It's the original username you have. If you've changed it to something else, the internal username will still be Sim, and the game will still name you Sim, unless you tell it not to.

Thanks guys. :D but, I tried to save it as auto whatever but its not on the save as choices list.
Ok, open up notepad. Type up the autoexec.cfg. Then on the save as thing, select all files and type "autoexec.cfg" exactly like that. (Only without the quotes). It should save as autoexec.cfg.

Yeah it works now. Thank you for your support. Admins you can delete this topic now, I have all the info I need.
