Custom Character Sprites Help

I am working on a custom character and I was thinking for the sprites I could use a slightly edited Sonic R model for them. I already have it edited, fully rigged, and textured. Is it fine if I take pictures of the model for sprites and import them into SLADE 3, or do I have to make my own sprites from scratch? Thank you for your time.

I'm pretty sure you can use anything you want, pre-renders, sprites, anything.
