For its part, the government says the law was intended to apply to pornographic websites, not news sites. It also argues COPA's age restrictions would work with content filters.

A while back someone tried to pass a law for adult sites to rename there website to .xxx at the end. If they did not change there site to .xxx they would get sued. Filters would have easily be able to block those sites without blocking good sites. To think right now we use word filters that sometimes block good sites.

COPA =/= COPPA

COPA requires websites with adult content to verify ages in order to distribute material. This is what the article refers to.

COPPA requires children to be 13 to distrubute information over the Internet. This was NOT what the article refers to.
