convincing my parents to let me get a snake

It´d be nice to take one to high school or college and leave it in the staff lobby.

When I was a kid, I wanted a Capybara (or chigüire, as we call them)

But I never got one, and eventually found an animal reserve with capybaras on it, and ended up being more fun than what it would have been to clean fish-made poop all day long. Now I have a dog, and I love her.

And you'd scare the hell out of anyone passing by.

Many people get scared by passing dogs. :P

But at least dogs aren´t poisonous.

Neither are all snakes (in my opinion the only snakes you should be scared of are the poisonous ones).

Yeah, intense-colored snakes are most of time poisonous, but there are also some snakes that copy other snake´s pattent to scare predators, so there is not a way to know if a snake is poisonus or not at first sight.
