1. Check addon description - You might have to disable shaders (for instance, Peppermodels doesn't work with shaders on). There's usually a list of recommended settings on the addon page.
2. Try looking at the file names -- Linux is case sensitive, so this would work:

(Note, if "blend" is ever uppercase, change it to lowercase. The name of the skin should always be uppercase).
And, as a side note just incase, do "gr_models" in console. If it's off, you have models disabled. (do "gr_models on" to enable)
