Blaze the Cat RE WAD

I would also like to add to that I will release stuff when I feel it's ready. :P If I don't think something is functional enough, I might send it to certain users through PMs for feedback, but that's about it.
Also, I'm mostly done with Burning Blaze's standing sprites, they just need to be a little shinier:

You kinda missed a post. :P I said a while back that I left the outlines black so it would be more accurate and consistent with her body. Although if it doesn't look right in-game, I'll change it.
 
I don't know why, but it seems like there's no shading in the shirt. Or is it just me?

The ranges for the primary colors are notorious for having shades that seem almost identical in the middle, while being significantly contrasting as it gets darker. If you have been shading her with intervals of every shade or every other shade, you may need to double it or more for it to work in the middle of those ranges.

Also, what are the chances of seeing some fire fx, and would there be a way to include it without making a separate release necessary to add it in optionally? I'm guessing there isn't really any way to make it look good without being a transparent object similar to shields and whatnot, but that is one aspect of her character I would like to see paid attention to, considering that otherwise there is no way to identify her as a fire elemental be her abilities.


Lastly, for stats, Blaze seems to be slower than Sonic in Rush but have a much greater flight distance. Unfortunately, it seems Sonic has both the highest jump, and the highest thrust factor, but I would experiment with ways you can try to make her seem more airy than Sonic. Perhaps by giving her a slower max-speed, you can give the illusion of her being better with jumping than Sonic because lack of speed makes control over jumping easier.
I'm not really very knowledgeable on the character WAD front unfortunately, as I've never had the patience to make all the sprites necessary myself. However, I'm sure Senku, I'll Begin, and Draykon are much better qualified to know the intricacies of sprite coloring and soccing.

In 1.09, the only thing that we can do that would suggest Blaze has any power over fire at all would be the spin frames. If we use socs, it breaks every other character. There was talk in old WIP topic of using the "pooping" Sonic WAD's soc so that she would leave a trail of flames (kinda like what the fire shield leaves behind) as she ran, but then everyone else would crap flames as well. Another idea I had was to use LD's idle timer soc to make it look like her tail swished while standing...but you can guess what happened there too. All of these kinds of additions will have to wait for 1.1, unfortunately. :(

The current Blaze WAD is in fact, slower than SRB2's Sonic, and the slow fall ability gives her a lot more control over where she lands as well. So she already kinda fits in with what you have in mind.
I was thinking of increasing her acceleration (Blaze is a cat, after all) and giving her a maxspeed of 33. She would start faster than Sonic, but can't stay that way in the long run, yet still faster than AmyRE1. Her jump height will be brought back down to 100 instead of 105, since it doesn't work, and even when it does in CB, the extra height is too much anyway.
 
Well the way I see this for Blaze's stats, Blaze should have a thrustfactor of 5, so she can maneuver in the air better than Sonic. The problem is Sonic already uses 5 while Tails uses 3, aka making Sonic handle better in air than Tails, so this ruins the handle in air better than Sonic theory. The next best way is like you said, make her normalspeed slower than Sonic, and her acceleration faster than Sonic, but also add the thrustfactor to 5. The thrustfactor and acceleration should make her easier to control in the air than Sonic. As for the fire thing, I've handled fire kinda ok with my character, the spintrail thing is what makes Nitemare, Nitemare, or at least once I give him the correct frames to combine with it, most likely I'll do that in the human wad. The fireballs are slightly overpowered, though I may find a way to tone them down a bit somehow. I know Blaze only threw fire while in her Burning form so having it happen in her normal form wont really work well. Maybe I can suggest to add a superringslinger option for 1.1 along with some other diverse options.

I still need to add head and tail movement to the back frames, and some additional refinement, but these are done for the most part. What do you guys think?
Now to work on the falling sprites.

Also, scrapped the idea of a WADBase WIP topic, it would make things more complicated. (For me, anyway.)
 
Well those look cool. I know what you mean of a Wadbase topic, I could post up a topic and post up progress of your work.
 
Well, I am kinda moving through this a little fast right now. A WIP topic wouldn't see much use. :P Then again, I might as well do it anyway, the more feedback I can get the better.

Those arms look a bit, long. Maybe shorten the... Wait, just compared to my arms, they're fine. ;D
