Becoming Super Sonic???

How do you transform regular Sonic into Super Sonic? I know you need 50 rings and all the Chaos Emeralds, and I have all that, just what key(s) do you need to press to transform?

This is like "How do I jump," except that it's now "How do I press Jump in mid-air."
