Avoiding turning into super mode

I don't know if it's possible, but how can I avoid a custom character turning super mode? Really. I want to make three characters. The problem is that they have different abilities (specifically the thok, flying and gliding, like replacing Sonic, Tails and Knuckles). According to that, one of them can turn into super mode, and the other two can't. But I don't want disadvantages!!! Since I can't turn the other two in super, I want to avoid the one that can to doing this. Is it possible without recompiling SRB2?

Custom characters cannot use Super mode at all, even with Sonic's ability. It's hard-coded to be only usable as Sonic.

Except for when you have a map like Mystic Realm Zone. Then any Thokker can turn super.

Go Super Metal Sonic! Go! Go!

Oh, and you can still use splitscreen mode to change characters while turning super.

Go!! ^.^

Thanks for the info. That avoids me a lot of work, too, because it's the thing by default ^_^ Thanks, Mystic!

You should make custom characters be able to turn Super if it's in their header. That'd be a neat feature for SRB2JTE, come to think of it :O
I've been avoiding adding things to skin headers because that would make those wads crash SRB2, which is DUMB and SUCKS HORRIBLY but SSNTails won't listen to me on that one, so there is nothing I can do. -_-

What about make a separate lump with extra header options for SRB2JTE? The normal SRB2 will ignore it without crashing (always when it's before S_SKIN, obviously).

It'd be nice if Knux could turn Super too, a la S3&K. Hyper, however is a no. To the suggestions thread.

Not really enough to particularly separate him from Tails and Knux, however, considering it's much easier for them to get the high ground, meaning it's over, Anakin. Knux is almost as fast as Sonic, so if you make it so HE can go Super too, what the heck is the point to playing as Sonic? This is a BIG flaw the official games have, and I'd LIKE it if SRB2 wasn't bogged down by it.

Eh, it's your opinion. Personally, I'd like it to be as similar to the originals as possible.

Or we could go the way of Sonic Adventure and make it so you can only turn super using the sector special, WOULD THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY, SIR?

Making characters super should be a character option in their S_SKIN.
like if you turn super, your max speed will double, your accel won't be touched, your jump will be 2x. ....and yea... knux is 4 whateveritscalled below sonic, it IS noticable, knux cannot keep up all that well expecially towards a thokking hedgehog. So for hyper, Knux would be 8 below sonic, even more noticable.

Anywho, i think supermode should be one of a s_skin option.Though i dunno who WOULDN'T want their character to go super, but you never know.

so there is no way at all to make a charector to go super?

i am trying to learn as much programmer talk as possible, can you explain this statement more indepth in a pm?

I don't think that I need to explain it more: I simply said that add the extra options of SRB2JTE in a different lump, nothing more.

Amazingly enough, I hadn't really considered that before. What I'm really worried about, though, is... What happens when people put an S_SKIN extention lump in a wad... but don't put a character in the wad after it? I'll figure it out, dun worry. :) Now for a name... 'S_JTESK'? Or 'SRB2JTE'? Note that I (should) only use 7 letters in the name...
