This has been going on for a while now, and I'm not sure what triggered it. I'm running WinXP SP2, and whenever I try to use the Add New Hardware wizard, my entire computer freezes. Like mouse stops moving, sounds gets all trippy, computer is totally unresponsive, etc. I would kinda like to know what the problem is, so's I can fix it.

Just out of curiosity, could it be that Vista is out?

...Then again, they would at least keep XP from crashing. I'll see if I can help, as I also run XP SP2.

(On this computer. Our house also has XP SP1(Upstairs, parent's room), ME(Upstairs, my room), and Vista(Parent's laptop).)

What kind of virus protector do you have? If it's Norton then that may be causing the problem. Please let me know.

Please don't use colors. :)

Well, I would try something slightly different from Shadix's idea, what I would do, I would go through the processes I run at startup and see if one of the programs are causing conflicts with Windows.
