SRB2-Playah

Ne'er-Do-Anythin'
I'm attempting to step into new (to me) bounderies in level editing. Making a NiGHTs level!!!11oneone
Problem is: The level SRB2 has doesn't tell me much about what to do. >_> Looks as complicated as heck.
So... Anyone know/have a NiGHTs level creation tutorial (Copy und pastedness!!), Or, can make one, or somefin'?

In an unrelated story, 'sup with my boards login thing? I check the 'stay logged in' thing, but I log out when I close the window. >_>

I've had that login problem a couple of times. Clearing the cookies fixed it, but it did mean I had to login once manually to all the other sites that normally remember me.

Oogaland

Odd, I always stay logged in on this site, but every other forum I frequent forgets me.

Are you actually thinking about making a NiGHTS level? You brave soul. Digiku was working on a NiGHTS level as well... No one ever saw him again. =P

I was thinking of maybe adding a extra NiGHTS level to one of my three Srb2 mods but we will have to see if I have the time.

A path in NiGHTS mode consists of rotating in a circle about an axis. Each axis has a number (stored as the options bit), and you can jump from axis to axis using an axis change THING.

Well, I'm hoping that, combined with one of the config files for a level editor and the NiGHTS map, you can figure out what does what.

I actually made this really cool diagram of an example of how it works... I'll try to find it.

Yellow is ideya palace.

1, 2, and 3 black are axis points

1, and 2 red are axis TRANSFER points.

Arrows on the lines indicate the path of movement.

Red 3 is a ton of AXIS TRANSFER CLOSEST points all put together in a line.

Black 4 is a ton of axis points all put together in a line.

The last part of the path is an example of how to make a psuedo-straight line in NiGHTS.

:o Aaaaaaaaahh... I see...
I take it I'm gonna be doing some work getting the axis points aligned correctly like that.

And, how close must the "straight line" axis points be?

Aaaaand out of curiosity... What happens if you combine NiGHTs, and 2D mode together? >_> <_< *Goes to try it*

EDIT: You appearently play like regular NiGHTs once you touch the Ideya drone, except as you rotate around the axis, the camera is always facing one direction. It doesn't rotate with your charecter. And, once the time is spent, and you "swing" off of the axis, you fall off of the path, and since you can only move 2 ways, can not get back on.

Why not have a "fling character off in a straight line" Thing, to be ended with a "hook character to next vertex Thing" Thing? Wouldn't that be easier?
