Aiming the camera for a thok, air control, and ground control

I'm on standard gameplay, and it's annoying when I try and aim towards a place for any air ability, I'm just off a wee bit and I bonk my face like the room is dark. I can't think the "center" of the screen is the aiming point.
Sometimes I just run into walls and lose all my precious speed, even midair.

I really just need tips for the three things I said in the title.
