... Balacing purposes? Oh, nevermind; Maybe that the boost is pretty much like a SPINDASH replacement, both do similar things in different ways.
It doesn't replace ANYTHING. If you're out of Boost in Sonic Rush, and you need to speed up from a standstill, what do you do? YOU SPIN DASH. You need to damage enemies on the move without any Boost? YOU ROLL. You need to go underneath a gap or into a tube? YOU ROLL. You need to gain speed down slopes with no Boost? YOU ROLL. And what does the Spin Dash do in the 3D games? It MAKES YOU ROLL. The fact that the Spin Dash AND the Boost coexist in Frontiers (and Lost World if you squint, because it's just called a run button there) invalidates this argument, too, and the Slide only exists as a consequence of REMOVING ROLLING / SPIN DASHING. Even the Somersault in SA2 has this problem of redundancy, which is why it's NOT HERE. The Spin Dash COMPLIMENTS the Boost, it doesn't replace it, because it GRADUALLY SLOWS DOWN ANYWAY, just like the Slide. Hell, have you even seen how many mods exist to add the Spin Dash to the Boost games and vice versa? Or even that 2024 Generations HAS THE DROP DASH, WHICH IS JUST AN AIRBORNE SPIN DASH CHARGE? Whatever happened to "ROLLING around at the speed of sound"?

That's a really good argument O.O (Also you don't need to use caps, there's a nicer version called bold text.)
I guess the ROLLING in ROLLING around at the speed of sound also counts as the jump.

I just tend to use all caps instead because not everything lets you use bold, and I try to be consistent in how I type. But yeah, in short, Sonic Team fumbled the bag by removing the Spin Dash from Unleashed. It led to at least a decade of people thinking the Boost formula and the Classic/Adventure formula have to be separate when that's just blatantly not true. So a Hybrid mode would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, brother...
Sorry for the confusion, everyone! No, we did NOT take down v1.9, nor was there wasn't any big emergency oversight to patch.

I was reluctantly told by Metalwario earlier that moderators DM'ed him, stating they deleted his update:

In our update post, we credited SuperPhanto for helping Metalwario64 with v1.9's new spindash frames, the ones used for the Advance gameflair. Even with Metalwario64's love for Sonic Advance he famously HATES doing rolling sprites, so that's why Phanto gave him a helping hand. To be exact, these spindash sprites got v1.9 deleted:

Now...just because an SRB2 member's banned, doesn't mean their work & contributions are also banned & deleted. SuperPhanto was simply made an exception to the rule.

Why? Initially a year ago Phanto was interpreted as victim shaming by SRB2 staff, in the midst of a related accident with Icezer that all mainly went down in DMs and the TAG Discord. (once dubbed Black Rock)

However, there's ALOT of tension on that topic. Anything I say about it might get interpreted as bad faith, cherrypicking, etc. Therefore ask the moderators directly, or look at their own article they've written. Then you'll get their perspective only without any of my bias, so make your own judgement:

So, the plan for v1.9 going forwards?
I will repost v1.9's original update post. But with it, I'll instead include the oldest v1.8c SAT ("Shining Alpha Tests" Discord server) alpha we had before SuperPhanto's spindash sprites were placed in.

This means it will be buggier and miss some of 1.9's features, but it'll be the best we got until Metalwario64 redoes his spindash sprites from scratch to prove Phanto wasn't involved this time. It will likely take a while. Both due to Wario situation, struggling to stay alive, as well as his pettier disdain for rolling sprites. So have patience with us! Spriting's no fun...I stopped for a reason after I'd spend my summer on SMSreborn, after all.

Well that was a disappointing surprise release

Do these banned users have a list on what gets affected on the MB? Because I'm starting to get confused on who gets to keep their stuff up on the site and who doesn't. Like it's very confusing when a user is forced to have their stuff on the platform while the other is classified to have a revert simply because of some sprites they specifically worked on. It's a mixed signal for what gets to stay and what doesn't.

If anything, can we get some kind of information on why this is so complicated? Because right now, it feels like the staff does not know how to decide what comes at a cost for banned users. Should it be having their content staying up? Should it be anything they worked on get deleted? Should it affect new updates? Should it affect old updates? Should it affect the message logs?

If half of this is for the sake of Archiving, then what's with all this shifting around for what gets to stay and what doesn't? There is so much confliction and questions for the rules on this, and paints the moderation team like they don't know what they're doing.
This is very confusing.

Metalwario64 updated Adventure Sonic (v1.9) with a new update entry:

v1.8c after all! v1.9 cancelled instead! (Banned until later update, please hold on!)

Golden Shine here! v1.9 was deleted and banned due to the Advance gameflair's spindash sprites being made with the help of SuperPhanto. Regardless of my opinion on that action, I'll try to stay neutral and not get our favorite Adventure boy perma-deleted. You can judge for yourself if you must: [URL='http://SA-Sonic v1.9 was banned due to @superphanto helping with the spindash sprites for the Advance...

Geez that sucks. Glad I got 1.9 before the takedown. Still, stuff happens that we just can't change and that's just how the world is.

Do these banned users have a list on what gets affected on the MB? Because I'm starting to get confused on who gets to keep their stuff up on the site and who doesn't.
No, there is no rule saying any content from banned users is prohibited, that would create a mess. However, SuperPhanto has received a community-wide ban for gross behavior and we do not want to platform them here. It's the same deal for people like Icezer and Sapheros. We do not want to give them any avenue to still interact with this community, and thus they are not allowed to help out with any new addons. Using their old stuff still on the MB is fine, but they cannot contribute to anything.

It's a bit disingenuous to say Phanto was "interpreted for victim shaming" when they directly harassed a grooming victim multiple times. They also attempted to protect the groomer in question from the consequences of her actions. I think it would be morally reprehensible to let them continue to engage with this community, and thus we don't allow their content here.

Therefore ask the moderators directly
Considering you decided to collab with a person that you know was banned for covering for and enabling an actual abuser, it's a bit concerning that contacting the moderators about whether his contributions would still be allowed was something you didn't do. Heads up for any future updates: if you're still on the fence about the next offender of similar caliber that you decide to collab with, it's okay to contact us to make sure.

This is very confusing.
There's being banned for mundane offenses, and being banned for covering for an abuser, and the latter we really do not wanna keep around the community because there's potential for further harm to other members. Allowing those people to still contribute indirectly, through other people's creations, is an incentive to keep them around.

That's why we usually have no objections to collabs with banned users in general, but with that type of offense we reserve ourselves the right to make exceptions: that means not accepting any new contributions from them, though we don't really retroactively delete or scrub non-offending content from before the ban. The problem is that updates to already accepted mods usually bypass screening, so we rely on manual reports in order to take action.

We even have precedent for these exceptions - precedent that Golden Shine is well aware of, which makes it even weirder that they attempted to submit SuperPhanto's work without consulting us first.

Hope this clears up some of the confusion, but again, you can always ask.

In my opinion, the mod shouldn't be taken down since phanto helped. Hes done nothing bad for the mod and he hasn't been on the mb in years

What he did was bad. But this shouldn't happen ages after it happened

I dont know who is, or what SuperPhanto did, and most probably no one will tell me, so i can't really have an opinion. I just hope this gets resolved.
