OKAY, thanks! This basically makes it to where the stars are still there. It's only that the stars are COSMETICALLY GONE, and that the stars still work as intended, right?
So basically, nothing really changed.

honestly i think thats the main PROBLEM with this change, there's still the top resources section, and now with the stars visibly gone this can very easily be abused and used to bring down a mods rating on there, being disguised as a positive review

I mean, removing the stars completely prevents first-time SRB2 modders from effortlessly making their addons better from time to time. Unless it's constructive criticism, they would agree with it. If it's negative criticism, they won't agree with it. Unless it's a stupid and offensive review. The Moderators would remove it.

Having to deal with going through and deleting reviews is partly why this was brought up in the first place, if this was not a system being abused in the first place, then there would be far less reason to remove it. Going through every addon isn't reasonable, nor does deleting it keep someone from getting insulted/discouraged in the first place even if it's deleted later.

I saw someone brought up bringing more moderation on as a way to deal with this, but frankly bringing staff members is not something that's casually considered at all.

If this is how it would actually work, this is somewhat concerning albeit it's not that important given reactions are something that can't be trolled in this manner.

The notion that we're trying to bubble-wrap the community is false. If we weren't willing to facilitate constructive feedback on each-others' work, we wouldn't have discussion tabs, period. People can learn without a rating—we want to avert people seeing ratings as the only form of validation, or the bare minimum for feedback.

If you believe you're owed the distinction of a high rating for your work, or that other people's work must be condemned for not meeting your standard of quality, we're not condoning that attitude, sorry.

In general, I believe that star ratings are as bad as you make them out to be. Its basically just a plain and easy way to get your opinion on the mod in question across. Its also a way for the creator to understand what they need to improve on.

If you understand what ratings really mean and how to properly use them (and you should considering that this site only allows people 13+), then most of the issues shouldn't be issues.

while you could have your negative feedback inside the review itself, stars allow you to quickly see what reviews most likely are and most likely aren't negative.

some of the better reviews tend to be a bit long, and reviews in general are going to be a longer with the 100 word minimum.

It much easier to look at stars to determinate this in all honesty.

Furthermore, I do think star ratings would go hand-in-hand with the 100 word minimum.

This already solves the issue of people not actually leaving actual reviews and giving 1 or 5 stars for no real reason, now that you have to put thought into the review.

The word limit already eliminates the more problematic parts of star ratings, so “cools” are not really needed much in this case.

I primally see it as convivence, it can be a god-send if your mod has alot of reviews as well. But you seeing it as laziness is also fair.
