Just how in the heck are you supposed to make rings on FOFs that are Deaf?...

Really. WadAuthor just LOVES to slap that thing down on the ground when I alter its flag... and editing raw data doesn't help. DoomBuilder didn't fare much better although it pretty much respected the extra flags (instead of changing it from "2D07" to "000F", it made it "2D0F") and that it, too has raw data editing... it just isn't in hex. Heck, I set objflags to 15 (Easy, Medium, Hard, and Deaf) while in Objectplace and placed a few rings on my FOF, but after adding newthings.lmp to the WAD, the rings were on the ground... again.

Obviously there seems to be trouble with the Deaf tag, so that might be out of the question. So... how do I simulate that effect while still having my rings NOT on the ground? Just how high does Deaf make it, and what do I add to the Raw Data to raise it that high?

Becuase, frankly, not having Deaf rings looks fugly, but if I can't get a solution by the deadline, my WAD'll be in there with rings on FOFs which ain't floatin'...

Just move the rings up 32 fracunits higher, silly.

Deaf works like

height over ground = 32

rather than

height over ground = height over ground + 32

so it's not meant to be combined with objectplace anyway.

Ah, 32. That's what I needed.

As for how to move them up, I think that was covered earlier on the board, so a quick search should turn something up. Thanks.

Yeah, it's pretty annoying now, but from what I've heard, 1.09 will make deaf add 32 units to the height instead of 32 of the floor no matter what crazy high height you set in the bitset or object place or whatever.
