384? Where'd that come from?

At the time of this post, we are permitted 384 characters in our signatures. I now ask, what's so special about this number? I'm well aware that 255 is the highest possible number of an 8-bit integer, which could probably come up with upper and lower bits in the code somewhere, but what's so special about 384?

And, of course, if your signature is over the limit after it's changed, as long as you don't change your profile, you can keep it over the limit ^_^

Yeah, I remember it was temporarily 384 when SSN put his sig, thus allowing me to put an ecksbocks hueg quote of the random time interval. I then had to change my avatar for a reason I could not remember, thus forcing me to to make an un-ecksbocks hueg signature.

Of course, I don't do the random quote thing-a-ma-jigs anymore, so...
