That's not how Earless works, name the spritelump "#L#R" at the end. So for example, "STNDALAR". This will cause the character to have left and right facing sprites in 2D mode, and use Left or Right in 3D, depending on their angle. This is a LOT less work than using A1, A2A8, etc, as well as way less required sprites, if your aim is a 2D character.
