1.09

1.08 is a bugfix to the final demo.

So's 1.09. It's necessary because we basically put out 1.08 way too early.

Yeah, too busy adding hockey game modes and such. ;)

Well, considering Hockey Mode was, to an extent, already in 1.08 (see MAPA0), it's not so much a "new" mode as an "improved" mode.

LOL, no, no... I'm implying that for 1.08, instead of working on fixing real things stuff like a hockey mode was worked on.

Sorry, a441, I know I'll never let that joke die..

What AJ means is he was too busy messing up my hockey code to get anything fixed. In fact, speed pads and hockey both worked perfectly in the version I gave him.

If you've been around long enough to remember the "netgame beta" that was going around after 1.04, I did nearly all of the coding after that. The new and improved homing ring was one of the notable exceptions. We didn't know it crashed because we did not have even a single netplay test of the final product. In short, 1.08 is a textbook example of how not to develop and release software.

Yepyep, I can't collaborate code for cheese.

The SVN thingy has really helped.

In short, 1.08 is a textbook example of how not to develop and release software.

And why we shouldn't set release dates. I think that really hurt it as well. That's why I'm not a big proponent of setting Halloween/Christmas/New Years as a release target for 1.09, because then we'll just run into the same problem, skipping testing in favor of shoving something out of the door in a certain timeframe.

You should be realistic like me: I have been saying for a month to expect 1.09 on Valentine's Day, and it's looking more possible by the day.
