I've had quite an Ear Worm of Up on Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz. Though I've heard that song before, I didn't really remember it. So when I recently listened, not remembering what it sounded like, it meant a lot more to me than it ever did before. I can't listen to it without thinking of a lone girl sitting on the wharfs at sunset, waiting for her husband to come back from sea...
Believe it or not, that song has given me some great inspiration for my SRB2 mod that is underway.

The Gorillaz have to be one of the few 'bands' that I seriously enjoy. All their music is so very different, and each song tells so many different little stories. And weirdly enough, I actually like their rap. The only way I can explain it is this: Instead of rapping "because rap", they instead use the rap to get some very specific messages and attitudes across. Just listen to Feel Good Inc., where the rap parts represent one person talking, and the dreamy more ambient parts another.

That hasn't been my only ear worm, though. Recently, when messing around hitting the random song button on BrawlCustomMusic, I came across some soundtrack from some random JRPG, "Ar Tonelico 2: Melody of Metafalica". Looking it up, it looks like a cute game, but I'll probably never get around to playing it, if only for the fact that PS2 games are hard to come by. Maybe that's all for the best, though, as it lets me take the emotion in the songs and make my own stories with them.

The first one I came across was Mechanical Maze. It caught my attention right away with it's complexity and sounds of hope perserverance. From there, I went on to listen to some others.

Waltz of Gears was next. Again, a total keeper, it combines many different classical rhythms with mechanical and almost tribal sounds. It actually makes me want to design that steampunk level Whackjood was gonna do but never did. Ah, if only time was infinite, I would. :p

Finally, I moved on to a third song, Goddess' Footsteps, and was almost floored. The qualities of majesty, might, and beauty in this song are amazing, and it pours out emotions in such a way that it helps me to find awe of my God.

I wasn't in the habit of going to BrawlCustomMusic, as I viewed it as sort of a silly place to listen to music, but daaaang. Just out of curiosity I hit the Random Song button when someone linked me there, and I found these. I shall never underestimate the site again. ^_^

I have music stuck in my head right now, it's the special stage theme from sonic generations, only it's not making me miserable.

The main battle theme from Persona 4. Reach Out to the Truth. Good song.

"Dvorak, Symphony no. 9, 4. Allegro con fuoco," a.k.a "BGM for Asura vs. Augus" or "Luffy Finally Finishing Off Crocodile."

It seems to be an anime-favorite, and listening to the song, it's pretty obvious to hear why. It's friggin' epic.

It's hard to say. I don't have a particular song stuck in my head since my PS3 is currently playing Pony music. However, on a daily basis, I'm split between 4 whole choices. Do I wanna hear MORE Pony music, some Zebrahead, Nirvana, or Jimmy Eat World? It's this annoying slash that clashes with my musical tastes. I never CAN tell quite which one I want. I've tried sorting them in a playlist, but unfortunately, the phone I have seems to have a song capacity on the playlists. How misfortunate.

My sister found a youtube to mp3 converter, so I badgered her for Fight the knight from sonic and the black knight on wii and I now listen to this every weekday on my way to school. If you don't like that then go die, as you can't live with yourself if you don't like it. Will to try, I will reach out eye to eye and I'll survive...

How about that? It's easier and faster than converting YouTube videos.

I approve.

The Dear Hunter - She's Always Singing

A very silly, cliché and oh-so-earwormy attempt at a happy/poppy song by an otherwise very alternative band.

Oh you sound so pretentious~

As if your musical tastes make you more cultured or something. Keep this up and you'll begin to sound like the average music comment poster on Youtube. :p

Lately, I've had a few songs from an old contest I didn't even participate in stuck in my head. They've been feeding my imagination, and giving me some pretty little ideas for projects.

Paradise Trance by Blue.Nocturne is probably my absolute favorite. It brings me into a whole different world, to a reef lost in the crystal blue ocean, thriving with the simple yet deep beauty of nature. I might use it in some chaptoral story based levels I have in mind for some time in the future.

Ducktopia, by established composer Coda/Ken Snyder, set me thinking. If ducks built cities, what would the cities look like? The song itself has a wonderful air of the beauty of daily life in an abstract world. On the other hand, there is no musical quality that implies ducks, at least as far as I've detected. That comes only from the song name. But hey, cut the guy a little slack. It's quite a song.

Also, by Blue.Nocturne, Snowflake Village holds a dear place in my heart. In fact, it might top Paradise Trance as my favorite song of the contest. Listen to it, and you might see why. So sweet and cute. ^-^

And I guess I can't post these without leaving out the entry that won the contest. And so I present to you Dream Gashapon, by Blitz Lunar/Dave Harris.

And then, just because I can, a very fun Funland, by Kris Troutman.

I really, really love Dayvan Cowboy by Boards of Canada, and Rock Lobster by The B-52s. But We Are The Happy Landfill by the Gorillaz has to be darn near the top of my heap.
