can you get emblems if an addon is downloaded but not active, how do you deactivate an addon, how do i know if my progress is being saved after deactivating it? (sorry im EXTREMELY new to all of this)

I have beaten the game twice as Sonic and Tails, and Knuckles respectively. I have 50 emblems and only 1 secret NiGHTS stage. I want to play mods like pizza time spice runners, sugoi and such, but should i unlock every last thing and obtain every last emblem before that?

im pretty sure you also get a guard bonus that goes down for every time you get hit, so if you got hit enough times to miss out on a big guard bonus, even if you keep all 10 rings by the end of the fight, you wouldnt reach 10k since the guard bonus went down. i think.
