It would be cool if Kart Builder could support "hurt" particles that animate separately from the racer. There are skins like https://mb.srb2.org/addons/froggy-car.6928/ that use emanata to communicate characters being hurt/dazed, but they're tied to angle instead of frame so the animation speed...
This sprite art is at 300% the normal resolution, the only HD kart is designed for characters of 200% size, so unfortunately the sizes don't really work out.
Fixed one of Slash's drifting/glancing frames.
Fixed one pixel on Slash's head that was unintentionally transparent on A5 angles.
Ran Slash SFX through a limiter.
Volume should be more consistent between voice lines now, with boost/victory lines being the most drastic changes.
Exported with an...
"add-ons" is not correct. Use "addons", that gets auto-created if you download mods from an online server anyway.
Don't extract pk3s, that will never be necessary.
Skins should have an optional field ("clone color"?) to allow bot clones to appear with the specified color if a human player is already using that character.
Dark Rider Shadow already has a Lua implementation for something like this (Shadow bots become Copper), though technically they're just...
In the interest of making it easier to track creator permissions like the above without a bunch of samey replies: Cool! this post if you are okay with unaffiliated users submitting Jack Frost dialogue on your behalf.
Released Slash after some more work. My next priorities are finishing Cross Town (above) and Bunny Slope Zone (sketched, needs art + sloping + items + etc.)
As part of Bunny Slope Zone's progression, on the final lap you will drive across a lake covered in several floating ice platforms. Just...
Added Slash Kamei (E, 5/6), using his Snowboard Kids 1 design.
Expect the first courses, "Bunny Slope Zone" (Section) and "Cross Town" (Battle), in the near future.
Let S_SKIN and P_SKIN lumps define Lua properties for skins, the same way that maps can have their own Lua properties defined.
The current practice for detecting skins for Lua interactions is to check the skin's name. This is more or less fine, but there are some issues that arise specifically...
Why is the transparency color set to index 1? 255 seems like it should be the obvious candidate since it's traditionally the transparency color anyway, and it's not part of a gradient like index 1 is.
An ironman's player and mobj will have different skin values. continue if your player skin isn't tellware, then check to see if the mobj has a different skin.
Learned map editing and got a lot of progress on Cross Town today. Need to do more background elements (basically just empty houses to make Cross Town look like an actual town) and make textures, and then I think Cross Town's ready for release.
Kamuy, a samurai from Filled With Online, joins the race.
Adjusted Peregrine's drifting sprites.
Fixed Incubus's Bane having a couple wrong angles.
Aside from the "Control Card" follower this is the end of the FWO content. Tabletop favoritism is over!
Did a one-byte edit to Map Trails to try to load it into DRRR (using the existing MMAPDOT lump), it's not awful but
Minimap position/scale is not consistent between Lua and hardcode elements. (Pretty sure this happened in SRB2Kart, too.)
I'd like to start adding dots based on distance from...
