I took a close look at the bridge and it turns out there was an extra vertex at the corner where Knuckles is standing. I corrected this and now everything is good. I didn't notice it before because the two vertices were one fracunit apart.

The grass is solid. And as for the part of the bridge that renders a triangle of grass instead of the concrete, the grass is also solid and the concrete isn't.
