Help with Knuckles

How do you play as Knuckles? Some sections you can just jump with any other character but not with him because his jump height is shorter and it looks impossible to complete the level unless you find a different route which I can never find. Also is he good? I'm aware Sonic is the best base game character in the game and the second in my opinion would be Metal or Tails.

Knuckles has his own routes. Some are easy to find, others... not so much.

Knuckles' routes are almost always in the same room as the required jumps, often hidden behind cracked rock walls. Keep in mind only 3 of those are necessary.
Also, Knuckles is the character with the least restrictions on where he can go at the cost of being the slowest to reach those heights (outside of niche situations where climbing does not work), and his spinglide, while worse than Tails', can still offer a lot of horizontal speed and height. Thus, my tier list goes like this:
1. Tails
2. Sonic
3 Metal Sonic
4. Knuckles
5. Fang
6. Amy

If needed, the wiki's "Sonic Robo Blast 2" section on it's main page has some articles containing walkthroughs, character descriptions and much more.

How do you Spring glide when I try to do an action after landing on a spring I'm stuck in the spring animation until I touch the ground is there a tech

you can't do that in vanilla srb2, if i recall correctly the only person who can do a move in the spring state is amy's hammer spin? i might be remembering wrong tho, but yeah theres no tech that's just how the game works
