POYO PENNYNICKEL

Poyo is planned to be hard for both beginners and pros, having moves that are overcomplicated and very strangely done. But when it clicks, Poyo immediately becomes a powerhouse that beats all of the vanilla cast in everything that they can do. Poyo, for the most part, will only make use of both Spin and Jump, and moves can be altered in various ways.
Skateboard
Poyo's main way of speed-keeping and general cool-ness. While the skateboard IS slippery, it's good to keep your speed, and you can even wall jump with it!
Grappling Hook
For when you need that extra bit of verticality, you can always count on your trusty Grappling Hook. Poyo can toss it up, and if it touches a wall or even stuff like trees, Poyo can grapple up to it!
Baseball Bat
Finally... The star of the show! Poyo is able to maneuver and do tons of cool tricks by utilizing combos with his bat! Think of something reminiscent to fighting games... Using well-timed inputs of both Spin and Jump, Poyo can outperform the vanilla cast!
These gifs don't really show what he can do the best, and his moveset isn't fully fleshed out yet either...
So... Who is this?

So... Who is this?
This is my dream character that has been planned ever since I made Poyo the Tails Recolor! The reason I haven't advanced with him yet was because...
I felt as if Poyo's character was uncomplete. I didn't have a proper moveset planned, nor knew how to design characters that well.
Over the years, including NTOPP and tons of the test mods I made, as well as even other characters I worked on, I started to learn how to properly design a moveset, and even improve on game design as I learned LOVE2D and made my own platformers. I don't want to say I'm the best there is, but I think I got quite the understanding of what I'm doing. Even if a human doesn't belong in a classic Sonic game. That's not to mention the amount of roleplaying I did, which helped me build Poyo's character, his world, and a ton more. Mauree Shekkai ended up helping me come up with the final design for Poyo, and that design has since been moved up to be used in my own game... UNSTOPPABLE: Refill Mart
I had no spriters.
Yeaaah... This is a common issue, isn't it. As of now, I got about 4 spriters, and I have to work on the mods of 2 of them to keep them, with my goat Anvil/worstfox/Wave being the exception. Wave made the entire Idle rotation, and as of posting (July 1st, 2026), there's nothing else. There were plans to make Poyo a pre-rendered 3D model, but I'm... Not the best at modelling.
I simply didn't have the motivation.
What about his character? Who is he as a character?
Poyo Pennynickel is a 16-year-old boy who runs Refill Mart in his parent's stead. He does has a twin sister, but she doesn't really chime in and mostly does her own thing.
Poyo, upon birth, was blessed with super strength
This ends up making the two babies land into Tendro City, which is a city located on a island. It was owned by the USA after they seized it from criminal druglords and witchcraft users, but eventually they forgot about it, and Tendro has turned into a bustling city with a maniac here and there. It has become home to tons of magic, and overly advanced technology as well!
Lorenzo, who was a military veteran, and Mary, who owned Refill Mart found both of them and took them in, raising them together. Luckily, they were both sane, as Mary originated from Canada, and Lorenzo came from the USA after he was abandoned on his last mission.
Poyo would start learning to fight after he and his sister was robbed at the age of 8, and the events of his game (which I will not get into) happened while Poyo was 16.
There isn't much planned for Poyo's SRB2 related lore just yet... But maybe once he's in a better state in the near future, I'll come up with something and maybe include a special cinematic on the titlescreen for it.
