A Minecraft Movie talk.

So first of all. I genuinely liked this movie... believe it or not. :P And I really liked Jack Black's performance and how they made Steve into a completely insane guy that acts like a player with 1000 hour playtime. :P (Which is kinda canonically the case?) I swear that the carried this whole movie... he's just goofy for no reason... and I love it. -v-

And I kinda find it cool that they didn't make the overall dimension(?) into an actual like fantasy world, but they instead just kinda stayed true to the game's logic, mainly with a whole day being 20 minutes long. :P (Not sure why, but I just find it pretty cool for some reason. :>)

And the visual direction might be your "Average life-action slop" but I genuinely love how this movie looks like... massive take... But just look at creepers, they made them fluffy. :C (Probably it's just moss fluff... but still fluffy. :>)

And plot might not be the most beautiful thing in the world, but it kinda reminds me of these classic minecraft stories/machinimas made with like alpha/beta minecraft versions. It just captures the goofy and wild essence of early minecraft in a way honestly. And that's why I honestly like this movie. :> (And because I rather be positive and not base my whole opinion off grumpy critics in their 40s...)

I haven't been able to watch it (i don't really have any time to go to theaters much anymore) but all the clips of people throwing popcorn and soda in the movie Chicken Jockey and other stuff looks really funny (someone even sneaked in a real chicken into a movie). Sucks to imagine cleaning all of that up. Other than that the movie just seems to be pretty generic for me atleast

I just watched it last night and I have never heard a theater cheer and laugh so much, and not just at the meme moments that are only funny because of some cultural ouroboros. Some jokes actually landed pretty well, you cannot tell me that them calling The Orb, The Orb, when it's clearly a cube isn't the best gag they could have possibly done for a Minecraft movie, and "Come closer" "You're not going to stab me with a knife are you?" "Noooooo" *attempts to stab with knife* *knife deflected* (Repeat) was awesome, I saw it coming a mile away and it was still hilarious, unlike hearing the word "unalive" in a movie.

The story definitely felt like it was setting up for one thing, and then it goes another way, way too often but it was a good time all around, the worst part was how quickly they forced the transition to the final battle. However, if you've never played Minecraft, the movie would make even less sense. Nostalgia pandering? You betcha, I have NEVER been hit with as much of it watching a movie as I have from this one, I guess that means I'm getting old.

Honestly, I started tearing up a little when Steve started singing goodbye to Dennis, and I felt betrayed when Steve immediately also went to the real world, like, you just had a heartfelt goodbye, why ruin it, they should have done what Super Mario Bros. (1993) did and had Steve show up at in the end credits scene saying "I need your help", or something like that.

Jared Hess has a interesting style of humor that, depending on the person, either makes it the most hilarious movie of all time or the dumbest movie of all time, with no in-between. For example, Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite are in my top 50 movies, but I have met people who say Napoleon Dynamite is the worst movie of all time.

So yeah, good movie? Maybe?

EDIT: I still can't get Lava Chicken out of my head.

I watched it last sunday at a new mall on my city, i really liked it! well not a lot because it´s absolutely TRASH and i mean TRASH IN A TRASH CAN WITH TRASH or something.. But in other part is THE MOST FREAKING EPIC MOVIE IVE NEVER WATCHED iT´S ON THE WAY YOU SEE THE MOVIE, HOW YOU WANT TO FEEL IT.

i
went with 0 expectations and everything it did was just, dissapointing look, i know its a kids movie but honestly, even tho is trash, i loved it because all the Jokes there, are silly, or doesnt makes sense at all, the story has so many holes in its script, has many things that does not makes any sense.

and the only thing i could say it was worth to see in a giant screen, is the VFX oh my gosh those are so good, i was cautivated, the songs not that much but i liked some of them! And love the way everyone just screamed when they saw Steve, also when any minecraft music either composed by Lena Raine and C418.

After all is just any big production motion picture to just say "Oh look! That´s minecraft" and win money for them, but i loved it honestly, just because . . . It was so bad that its so good.

"L-l-l-lava Ch-ch-ch-chicken! Steve´s Lava Chicken YEAH!".

This movie didn't had the best story and was predictable but holy crap this was too funny

Just saw it whilke I was sick

Good movie though it was pretty underwhelming.
