Purple Rings - an SRB2 challenge mod - A Purple Comet Has Appeared!

Hello!

  1. What is this mod? this is a challenge mod for special stages. Basically, all blue spheres in the level are replaced with the titular purple rings. They serve no purpose technically as they give you no score and cannot be attracted by shields, but thats not where the interesting part lies
  2. What is the interesting part? The interesting part is what happens when you reach bonus time (or if you have half of the alotted time remaining in any...

I would be genuinely impressed if someone managed to program planet gravity into the doom legacy engine

MariSoni updated Purple Rings - an SRB2 challenge mod with a new update entry:

the cosmic clone update >:3

changes:
  • Clones now respawn within a five second time frame, giving you plenty of time to recover while also still being a threat
  • clones now also make their death noise when you hit them

be on the lookout ;3c

New Skin Color Just Dropped!

So you know how Galaxy 1 has a similar thing with clones called Cosmic Mario?

(source)
I made it a skincolor for multiplayer!

I don't think it would be possible to have a galaxy within a player's skincolor like the original does, but I'm perfectly willing to be proven wrong if someone smarter than me would like to try.

MariSoni updated Purple Rings - an SRB2 challenge mod with a new update entry:

Mario & Luigi Compatibility!!!

I wanted to do this from the beginning; I added Mario & Luigi support to the mod!

basically, their sounds are replaced with their galaxy equivalents, including the cosmic clone's voice.

I finally found the ambient sound I was trying to look for. I had to rip the sound myself (not fun) because nobody else had done it before, so I hope that hour I took trying to find it out of the unnamed files of the game was worth it, because I'm not gonna do that again for a while.

MariSoni updated Purple Rings - an SRB2 challenge mod with a new update entry:

I'm Back!

changelog:
Thanks to the help of Romoney5, the mod has been given optimizations as well as the following changes:
  • added visual flair to the HUD (the text glows when you collect purple rings)
  • tweaked/remade music
  • tweaked the screen visual to more closely resemble how it looks in Mario Galaxy
  • removed the "get [x] spheres!" prompt (didn't know that could be done)
  • squashed most of the bugs
lmk if I anything comes up, but I believe we should be good

Hi! I was randomly searching for some addons and found this one.
Absolutely loved it! Specially loved you can have the Cosmic Clones in any level using a command. I like challenges stuff like this :knuxsmug:.

Shall I suggest something, though?
Like you did with the purple rings counter on the HUD, you could use palette translations to make Cosmic Clones' eyes look similar to how they do in S. M. Galaxy
I've made two Cosmic Clones palette translations for you to use, changing white-black colors to yellow.
One of them also colorizes any other color to red, while the other doesn't so you can colorize it with any color.

Translation String (No red): "0:31=73:76"
Translation String (Red included): "0:31=73:76", "32:47=111:96", "48:63=47:40", "64:71=47:32", "72:79=47:32", "80:87=47:32", "88:95=47:32", "96:111=47:32", "112:119=47:32", "120:127=47:32", "128:139=47:32", "140:143=43:36", "144:159=47:32", "160:169=47:32", "170:175=43:34", "176:187=47:32", "188:191=43:36", "192:199=47:32", "200:207=47:32", "208:215=47:34", "216:223=47:40", "224:239=39:32", "240:251=43:32", "252:252=47:47", "253:253=34:34", "254:254=32:32"

As S. M. Galaxy is on my Top 3 favorite Mario games, I would love to see more updates of this!

I would be genuinely impressed if someone managed to program planet gravity into the doom legacy engine
that would need to start with WALL GRAVITY in 4 or 8 directions
Halfpipe Utilities exists, so it would be actually possible I guess. They recreated SRB2's movement physics in Lua and modified them to work on walls, so the same thing could be done with planets. The real problem would be the mid-air wall gravity itself...
