I logged in, and it gave me a 404 error and said I did not have permission th veiw these boards. I click back on my browser, and I was logged in, and everything was fine (except a couple of broken images on the front page). Is there some kind of problem?

Your Welcome... I love messing with settings... It shouldn't do anything bad. Although, It may crash if you open a lot of tabs (and I mean like 30 or 40) at the same time. This is very unlikely to happen, though. Now surf the Internet at the speed of light!
