What Happened To Green Flower City ?

i only noticed this as of recently ever since i decided to play 2.1 since a long time ago but i realized that the 2.1 version's green flower city has been changed to green flower mountain in the intro of 2.2

this is curiosity speaking but is there a reason behind this change?

I'm not sure but my guess is to tone it down a little to match the rest of the game. Blowing up a mountain into a Eggman shape, somehow, is way less extreme than killing hundreds if not thousands of people.

in retrospect yeah that does make sense but i don't think it's far off from his character considering he once threatoned to blow up a couple of countries in sonic adventure 2

Robotnik/Eggman has a history of expressing a variety of personalities as a villain since Sonic first showed up on the Genesis (from the somewhat eccentric and goofy mad scientist who wanted to create his own world of robots to the downright evil intentions in Sonic Forces that led to the discussion as to whether the IP was getting too dark).

This applied to the TV shows as well, the one from Disney for instance showed him as somewhat goofy despite the dream of world domination being intact. When you consider that SRB2 is supposed to hew more closely to the entries on the Genesis, it could be argued that the story change makes it even more faithful to those games than before.

Disney never made a Sonic cartoon.
Are you talking about DIC's Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog?
(DIC might be best known for other cartoons like Inspector Gadget and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.)

DIC was also the company behind the Saturday morning Sonic cartoons with the Freedom Fighters and such.

In the Modern era? Yeah, he's just mad. Classic Eggman isn't going to just plainly murder to prove a point, even in SA2 he didn't do that (He blew up the moon instead, to show his point.)

Are you talking about DIC's Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog?

That is correct, though it is pretty common for animations to be associated with the companies that had the rights to air them (DIC pitched and created shows for a number of broadcasters during their peak). It had an evening slot on Toon Disney for a while until it stopped airing alongside many of the other 90's toons.
