Oh so it's about 1.9 having Phanto's new contributions hm... guess it's the best to replace it with something different, not made by him, since it's only allowed to use his old assets anyway.
Excited to experience some new changes when it comes, i'll be patient.

I'm very confused as to why they are deciding to remake the sprites right now instead of re-uploading 1.9 with the old sprites. It's not hard to just release the new sprites in a separate update instead of making us wait for 1.9

They can do that, but to make a separate update. They would have to remove Phanto's contributions and have a different spriter help Metalwario, or he can do it himself. But that could take a lot of work to make it just without a spriter assisting him. However, there's one that was released on the SRB2 Workshop as an archive for people who didn't get 1.9 earlier. So you could do that.

GoldenShine already stated the MetalWario is making the sprites himself. Yes they would have to remove Phanto's contributions, but that also shouldn't be very hard to do.

As for the Workshop part, while yes Workshop has different rules than MB, I don't really want to support that Workshop submission as the update was clearly banned for a reason, thus it shouldn't just be re-uploaded, whether it was on a site other than MB or not.

I already got 1.9 before it was downgraded, so it's not necessary for me either way
