In Rainbow Sky 1, if a player uses Ring Shooter before passing the starting line, crossing it during light-snake might not register. While it is possible to go backwards across that line and then forwards again (doing so corrects the lap counter, though at a great loss of time), CPU players never do that, resulting in them being unable to finish the race.

Interesting. I always had problems with the CPU not crossing the starting line and didn't knew how to fix it, but didn't had any problems with it before. I'm guessing is something about 2.4 since this update changed how sprint tracks work. I'll have to wait until 2.4 fully release before changing that.

I think it is ill-advised to have checkpoints and multiple "laps" in section races, as it results in issues with grading in v2.4. (You can still complete a race on v2.4 as crossing checkpoints is not actually required to complete a lap.)

In Rainbow Sky 1, there are three checkpoints placed on the map and due to how the course is designed, you are meant to hit only one of these on each "lap" (as in "start > checkpoint 1 > lap 1 > checkpoint 2 > lap 2 > checkpoint 3 > finish"; it usually goes as "start > checkpoint 1 > checkpoint 2 > checkpoint 3 > finish"), such as this on "lap 2" (note that the "crossing the start line while respawning" bug has occurred, so it thinks the player is on "lap 1"):

The actual problem is that the grading expects to hit all three checkpoints before passing a "lap" and any unregistered checkpoints upon completion of a lap results in no credit for these checkpoints, resulting in a maximum of:
  • 6 / 6 Lap Bonus in v2.3
  • 60 / 120 EXP in v2.4 RC1 to v2.4 RC4
  • 56 / 150 EXP in v2.4 RC5 onwards
v2.4 uses EXP to determine final results of a Grand Prix cup, resulting in lower score gains for all players in this course and potentially having less effect in final standings than in all other races of a Grand Prix.

EDIT: This at Rainbow Sky 1 should be considered a death pit and is also too punishing:

Thanks for the inquiry! I'm waiting for a full release of 2.4 before updating fully all my mods to this version so I can understand better how to do the checkpoints, and this also helps me understand them better! And about that missing death pit, uuuh... That's on me, I'll fix it sometime later.
