Can sprites be combined and removed?

So I've seen sprites on Sonic whose IDs look like "WALKA2E8." And then there's its reversed sprite, "WALKA2E8." Technically speaking, can you remove the latter, since it's just reversed from the first sprite. On a similar subject, there's a "WALKA1" and "WALKD1." Can these be combined?

What do you mean? You mentioned the same sprite twice.
(By the way, they're not "IDs", they're quite literally sprite names.)

Both sprites are not a mirror of the other one - they have unique features for different parts of the walk animation. It would look very weird if you tried.

I meant "WALKA2E8" and "WALKE2A8"
I also meant "WALKA1" and "WALKE1"
Also the first set is kinda clear to me now that the latter is not possible, I just read it wrong.

It's not quite clear to me what do you mean by "removing" WALKE2A8 because WALKA2E8 exists.

As for the other set,

look at Sonic's mouth.
The artist that sprited Sonic added a little detail where Sonic's mouth stays at his left side.

You can't merge both sprites without losing that little bit.

He means because like... duplicated sprite files.
Not only are you replying to a 4-5 year old thread, you are also doing it in a confusing manner, because you're quoting the entire post instead of just what you're trying to explain. Remember, highlighting text brings up a little menu that lets you quote part of the post.

WALKA2E8 and WALKE2A8 are not duplicate, they have a different limb position. And just by looking at the name itself, the sprites are each already occupying two different frames of the animation.

Oh sorry

necroposting ig. I never really knew what it meant but I will take a guess and say that it’s when you try to keep a old thread/ post active when it wasn’t for a long time. The name also makes me very uncomfortable because of necrophilla which I will not explain what it is here.

I am late to answer, I am so sorry lmao

Because four years have passed and nobody else has elicited a need to know what OP meant.
And, it is generally frowned upon to reply to an inactive thread, usually a very old one, with information that does not add to the topic in a meaningful way.

The guy asking the question stopped posting in this thread on November 2020. Seems like he solved his question by now and this thread has enough information to go by, so the thread ran its course and... stopped.
You somehow found this thread and decided to inform me what you think he wanted to say. It would be somewhat appreciated, if it weren't because you are four years late to point it out. The thread topic has already finished, and we moved on.
Even if you were on time, I would have most likely told you that I would rather hear that interpretation from the guy himself, who was actively replying to me and was capable of explaining themselves, lol

If you don't know what something means, Google might.
Necroposting is the act of bringing a dead thread back to life. That's pretty much it.

The word is a portmanteau of necro, Greek prefix meaning "death", and post, a message in a forum.
It's also kind of a play on the word "Necromancer" because of how it is used.
