Most likely since it would be hard to make a 3D character….unless everyone makes some G&W type character with sprites in a 3D game.

I think I prefer RoA I.

It's unique in it's mechanics, has a unique simplistic style, and allows more stages, characters, buddies etc... through the workshop.

Though, I still really enjoy RoA II.

Definitely would be Super Mario Galaxy as my favorite 3D Mario Game (currently)
I'm also tied between Super Mario World and NSMBW.

I've always loved Odyssey, ever since being introduced to it through a friend. I just recently got it on my Switch, and it's amazing. It's definitely the best Mario, as in the character, that we've ever gotten. Some honorable mentions are 3D Land and Super Mario World. As for fangames, I haven't played any, because Nintendo.

I would recommend checking out MFGG (Mario Fan Game Galaxy) and SMBX 38A.
