BEWARE!

Hello srb2 community! so today I found a fake download link for srb2 on some website called "uptodown . com" its an install link for srb2 on windows idk if its fake or not but dont install the game from there, I also found it on softonic, and its known for content with viruses

UpToDown has no viruses, I use it to download stuff all the time and i get no viruses, I don't even have a anti-virus, So shush. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyone with the minimal amount of common sense required for survival is able to determine "I want game, thus I need to get it from the official place instead of this random site I found".

In fact, if you search for "SRB2" in Google, the very first result is the official site.

Good that you want to warn people and that but like.

Dude.

Why would someone download srb2 in a place that isn't srb2.org. :worry:

mabye if for some reason they dont notice it or use that website as there main source of installing apps (witch is stupid dont use those websites kids!) so if they first search up there it might be installed from there witch could contain viruses and I am just letting people know because the game cant be re-sold

well.... my parents thought srb2 was a virus

but they know its not
A lot of parents tend to think that any kind of software that isn't from an official publisher (i.e. google) is a virus.

Nowadays, that's just not true. You'd have to actively search for viruses nowadays in order to get them.

Even then, viruses aren't the most harmful thing on the internet nowadays, exploits and hacks are the most harmful thing as they can actually get into your accounts and do dangerous things. :worry:

Iirc I downloaded SRB2 in a site called "Baixaki" back in 2009 due to it being a site in my language and the place where I would normally look for Sonic fangames or just games.

A typical case (like when parents would think that a videogame console would damage a TV)

Ironically Google is one of the biggest spyware that people are willing to install.
yeah even though my computer has like a bazzillion virus installs(witch i havent open) just so they could veiw photos because some program install some shooter game on my pc(its gone now)
