Srb2´s Midis Recorded with the Original Synthesizers

Retroplayer

Bad at choosing names
A while back i read Wumbo's thread about srb2's full midi soundtrack and saw that no one had tried to post renditions made using the original synths used to make srb2's ost, and with his permission i decided to make this thread and track down the synths to record them.

Update 1:
I have finished recording the 2.1 midis, and have started recording the 2.2 midis. If any of the tracks have issues (pops, cracks, etc.) just tell me in the comments.

Update 2:
Now OGG and Flac recordings are available. Choose whether you want maximum quality, low file size, or both!

Update 3:
I Have finished the recordings of srb2's 2.2 midis (now they are fully recorded in Wav, Flac and Ogg). Now i will shift focus to recording Tgf and srb1 midis.

Micro Update:
Uploaded The srb2 Production intro + a few more demo and christmas songs.

SRB1, TGF and Christmas update n.1:
Sorry for not posting for a while, here are the midis i have recorded so far. The remaining few will be uploaded at a later date. (Ogg will be uploaded first, Flac and Wav later)

(If there's any recording mistakes notify me in the replies or through a private message. A few SRB1 midis are a bit loud, so lower your volume.)

How did you find the original synths?
Nevermind, these aren't with Final Demo-2.1 SoundFont.

Mostly trial and error plus looking at the reset types of the midi files. I happen to be a huge Yamaha fan, and it turns out some of these midis are in XG format. I'm using the Yamaha MU 90 (or it's vst equivalent the S-YXG50) and the roland sc-88 for azure blue world.

Fully Recorded 2.1 ost

I have finished recording the srb2 2.1 tracks, check them out in the link on the main post!

That nice but could you upload these in FLAC(or even ogg) instead of WAV ? Not everyone have fiber so we have to wait almost a minute for each track(or 3 for some) and my internet isn't that bad.
Actually that 4 times bigger than an usual WAV file

Really 96kHz 24bps WAV files(that isn't overkill ?) ? That explain why these are 30MB/min instead of 10MB/min.

Now i have started uploading them both in Flac and Ogg (so it doesn't eat up 10% of your hard drive). im gonna leave the wav files just in case there's someone out there who has equipment ridiculous enough to actually notice the difference.

From now on any Updates i make will be made first on Flac and Ogg and later on Wav.

Now all the files are also on OGG and Flac, enjoy!

Fully Recorded 2.2 ost

Now the srb2 2.2 midi ost is available, Ogg is already uploaded, Flac and Wav are still uploading.

I find it impressive how the Dark City midi sounds almost exactly the same as the digital version that's been on the files for a while. I guess they didn't even bother to make an XG version to render it for the digital versions.

This is amazing, some tracks sound even better than the originals!. plus some sound exactly like the originals which is even more impressive

What a coincidence, I actually just recently switched back to my old computer which has the X-YSG50 VSTi on it.

I think the few new midis that have XG-specific data on it might be Tapeworm's, or there might be a few from mine which are edits from previous midi versions. I did the bulk of the new midis but only had MSGS to use a reference point at the time. I should probably play around sometime and see what I can do with an XG render, it's been a long time since I worked in the format.

Oh yeah, i gotta point out that i did render out some MIDIs from SRB2 with the S-YXG50 VSTi although I used Synthfont to do so losing some effects plus i did so on Exagear which is like some sort of wine thing but on android and emulates x86 programs (?) i don't think I ever posted any of it anywhere. The only thing I posted was the SRB2 soundtrack with Arachno Soundfont on my YouTube channel but that's all i think.

It should be worth noting that most (if not all) of the pre-2.2 digital soundtrack was rendered on a Yamaha SW60XG sound card (any XG MIDI device should do, though) and a KORG X5DR MIDI module.

If it interests you, I have uploaded what I believe is the production MIDI for the intro, and it's XG-compatible. I found it in a directory, one that I can't seem to find anymore, on Shane Strife's website. (I had to upload it as a zip, because the message board apparently doesn't accept ".mid" as a file type for attachments.)

Oh, That's pretty cool. i'll gladly add it with the other recordings.

I have uploaded the production intro, if you find anything of interest just tell me. Thank you very much!

It would be great to see what you can do with XG, your new soundtrack is awesome, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea to implement it into srb2 until midi playback is fixed (it seemingly doesn't have support for reset messages or SysEx)

Hello there, i haven't recorded midis for a while, i have recorded quite a few so i wanted to push an update. This is the first half of the last midis left, Enjoy!
