SRB2 Hub (1.3)

I call a "Flaming Gargoyle Zone".

Also there were a few qwirks I forgot to mention earlier.

* For being only the second level of the main game, the entrance to GFZ2 is easily the most difficult entrance to reach of the entire zone. Whenever it's exploiting a trick to jump into a waterfall to increase the height of Sonic's jumps or some careful platforming.
* THZ1's Act 1 sign is quite easy to miss. In fact when I first entered THZ's HUD, I didn't even know it was Act 1. (Whelp, silly me)
* In RVZ's HUB, it is possible to press the button that would normally start Act 1 without triggering the warp to Act 1. The common "go under lava via lava falls" trick is also present here, in the area with Act 1's entrance.
* Pipe Towers Zone's room has a small texture error by the left waterfall in the back of the room with the solid blocks.

I also have an idea; in the Special Stage room, if you press one of the buttons, it displays a thumbnail of the current-selected Special Stage.

More legacy stages huh? you making sure they fully work properly?

You may also be giving me competition with those considering I'm still fixing up my mod while adding new things.
Of course I do! I'm even making some of the things that were very special in 2.0.x work again. *wink* *wink*
And I only plan one Legacy Stage per zone for now, so you have no need to worry. It's not quite in the same league as your mod, which I quite like by the way.


It just me, or the slime-water from LTHZ2 (Legacy Techno Hill Zone 2) is more pink-colored than before? I don't remember it SO bright, but oh well, i like it.

Maybe putting the same signs from the normal zones? (A sign with the image of Knothole Base Zone, for example) It'll kinda look fine, i guess.
Nope, it's exactly as it was before, I made sure.
And I took your suggestion regarding the signs, it looks much better now.


Fair point, but I have to say that the current Legacy ERZ3 feels a bit small compared to 2.0.6.
Once again, I made sure it's exactly the same.

On this note, Gaga Hax, if you ever want to try and fill the gaps in SRB2's campaign again yourself in future I'll be happy to give you permission to port Metropolis Sprint for Dark City 1 again.
That's so very sweet of you! <3 But I have no plans on doing that in the near future, but I'm very grateful nontheless.


Not to mention that version's DCZ2 was killed by using Launch Base Zone's music from Sonic Advance (which just didn't fit the theme of the level).
And by the critical quality contrast. And by my overall lack of designing skills.


One small request: full version number on the main menu. It just says 0.6. To some, that might be 0.60, but I know for sure mine is 0.66. Thanks.
Whoops! I totally forgot to edit the version number since 0.6. Thanks for pointing that out. You just saved the next update from being 0.6 as well.


I also noticed the SRB1 Hub is in the same spot that the Special Stage Select room occupies in 0.66. If that's the case, where would the room for the 2.1 Special Stages be moved to?

It'd be a little slower trying to enter the Special Stage select room (including thok-maniacs accidentally entering the SRB1 HUB instead of the Special Stage Select room, but I personally wouldn't mind. The room leading to the SRB1 remake HUB could be placed adjacent to one of the Bonus Stage's rooms on either the left or right side of the hallway, therefore allowing the Special Stage Select to remain in it's original spot.
Also when I brought up the idea of a thumbnail of the selected Special Stage to appear, it would be a floating screen much like the signs in the main HUB.

If you want another idea, GFZ1's sign could be moved form where it currently is to where Sonic is standing.
Also, in DSZ' HUB< at the gate leading to Act 3, it is possible for the Gargoyles to noclip up to the areas it's not allowed to be pushed onto.

Dude, this is so cool! This HUB is really great looking, with excellent presentation and a nice layout. This reminds me of a combination of Sonic Adventure's Adventure Fields, and Sonic Advance 3's overworlds. The hangout area is a perfect lobby for games and would be great for those who do RP servers. Nice work!
 
So has anyone else figured out what the new music track is? i know what it is but i won't tell unless someone gets it right~. =3
 
SRB1 Remake with Any Character?

Do you think you can remove Force Character from the SRB1 Remake Level Headers so we can play as any character?

Sorry, but I can't do that. Some of Knuckles's levels can't be cleared by sonic, making it gamebreaking to remove forcechar on them. And If I don't then every single level after Knuckles's levels, provided that you actually visited the latter, will have to be played as him if you're in SP. I might be able to come up with something, but not right now.
 
Playing this update right now. Hot darn it's excellent.
I also found Castle Eggman Zone Act 2 Legacy; there's a couple of graphical oddities that kinda spoil it, so you may want to fix those.

As for the hangout area, it's well-detailed, and the cafeteria combined with the music is beautiful. The theater's fun. :)

Here's to hoping for more improvements in SRB2HUB in future releases.

Hey guys. GH told me about this in private. don't expect any updates for atleast a week. the guy says he's been pretty stressed just trying to release the new version. so he needs to rest for a long while. he's like alot of us. and with the amount of work he's put in and the amount he might put into the next big update, i'd say he's earned alot of the rest he's getting.
 
I don't want to speak for him. but i'm sure he doesn't mind that much at all. he just needs some rest is all. after all, stress CAN kill.
 
I'm getting huge Danganronpa vibes from the hangout area, doubled by the music. I like it. The SRB1 level select is pretty cool, but I'd suggest putting the signs on the near side of the player so they can be more easily seen.
