Version 7 comes early! Nothing new as far as characters go, however, lots of new followers, and some character stat adjustments!

Patch notes:
  • Nine new followers have been added! Super Star, Baby Yoshi, Limit Gauge, Moogle, Balloon Mr. Saturn, Low-Poly Aerith, Cloud, Tifa, and Barret have all been added as new followers.
  • Several characters have seen stat adjustments to better reflect how I'd like them to play. Aerith is now 4/3, Tifa is now 6/5, Lucas is now 3/4, and Kumatora is now 7/3.
  • This doesn't have anything to do with the actual new in-game content, but all of the pack assets have been updated!
I have characters being worked on, however I've been spending a lot of my time doing followers instead, catching up on ideas I've had but haven't had the motivation to realize until now. The pack is reaching a size where I'm considering ways to split up its contents, though I'm unsure what the best way to go about it is. If the base game's follower/character limits increase, then I'll likely continue to opt to not split up any content. Enjoy the new followers!
Oops! Forgot to clean out some extra frames from Juri's death sprite. That's been fixed now.
  • Cool!

Version 6 of girlpack is here! This one's pretty major, so be sure to read the patch notes below if you're interested.

Patch notes:
  • Barret Wallace (2/9), Aeris the Spaniel (5/3), Gwenpool (3/2), and Tanooki Mario (5/2) join the race!
  • In addition, Tanooki Mario is the first character that utilizes Lua scripting to be added to the pack. Fast-fall to transform into Statue Mario, and get the drop on opponents! Be careful, though, turning to stone raises your weight to 40, and drops your acceleration to 0! For those who don't wish to try out his alternative gameplay style, you can disable the transformation mechanic by typing statuemario 0 into the console, and re-enable it with statuemario 1. Tanooki Mario was coded by Jaituia and toastergrl, with sound effects made by Crappy Blue!
  • Following up on the previous point, the .soc version of girlpack has been retired. While the .soc bug concern seems to have been overblown, with Tanooki Mario's addition there's no reason to maintain two different variants of the pack.
  • Juri has received a face lift, and is now more in line with the other human racers in the pack. She should be the last character to see a resprite like this for the foreseeable future. Like Aerith and Tifa beforehand, she is also more in-line with the vanilla art style.
  • Tifa's hair now also changes based on the selected color. In addition, Wine has been tweaked so that it includes the necessary colors for her hair. To most players who use Tifa with her default colors, there will be virtually no difference. However, there were concerns that it was a little difficult to see what color she had chosen at a glance in multiplayer races. Her hair now changes color as well as parts of her outfit, making it more immediately readable what color she's chosen.
  • EricBound and Juri-chan have been added as followers!
  • Minor touch-ups across various characters to ensure consistent visual polish.
Heavy duty update with a lot of administrative adjustments. No sneak peek for next time, I'm leaving what's next up to the wind. Behind the scenes this is kind of a shift for how girlpack is going to work for the foreseeable future. There's one or two odds and ends I'd like to tie up with Lua, but Tanooki Mario and his alternative gameplay style is the most ambitious/gameplay affecting thing I have in mind. I hope you all enjoy the update, Tanooki Mario, and girlpack!
Long awaited, highly anticipated, girlpack version 5 is here with 4 new racers, two racer revisions, and two new followers!

Patch notes:

  • Cloud Strife (7/7), Birdo (3/7), Gameboy Wario (5/9), and Witch Kiriko (2/8) join the race! This is the biggest update since launch.
  • Furthermore, Cloud and Wario's prefcolors, SOLDIER and Loud, have been added as well!
  • Aerith and Tifa have both been redrawn from the ground up! Not that there was anything wrong with them before, but I wanted to give them a touch-up so visually they fit the vanilla art style a little better. If it weren't already obvious, Cloud was also drawn in the same style.
  • Wega and the Eternal Star have been added as followers! To avoid things getting too annoying, Wega's scream is shortened significantly.
I'm still trying to measure exactly what all I want to do next. Not to say the pack is done, obviously, I have other ideas, but I'm trying to balance working on what I want impulsively with adding things I've set out to include ahead of time. Barret as well as Aerith the Spaniel (Aerith, but she's a Sonic character) I've locked in for the next update. With all that said, I hope you all enjoy the update! I'm gonna go take a nap.
Ramona Flowers, from Scott Pilgrim, and Dr. Orpheus, from Venture Bros., join girlpack!

Some specific patch notes-

  • Ramona Flowers and Dr. Byron Orpheus join the race! Ramona's stats are 6/7, while Orpheus is 4/8.
  • Non-Binary Pride has seen a minor adjustment. Not for any particular reason, just so the contrast is a little higher. Each color of the flag takes up about a fourth of the palette!
  • Aerith and Tifa's death sprites have been redrawn. They're more in-line with the others now, having a full illustration rather than an edit.
With that, there's now 11 available racers. The next update may take a while, but that's because I'm planning for it to be much bigger than normal. Here's a small preview of what I currently have planned!

Hi again! Sorry for the hotfix, there were some problems that were only apparent when loading the .SOC compatible version. Everything should be just fine now.

To make up for lost time, I've added a new follower, Plush Aerith!

Girlpack 3.0 is here!

Morrigan, from Capcom's Darkstalkers, and Kumatora, from MOTHER 3, join the roster! This brings the total up to nine racers. Wow!

Furthermore, there's a few minor changes.

  • Morrigan's prefcolor, Succubus, has been added. It's a nice teal to lavender color ramp, reminiscent of the original Darkstalkers artwork.
  • Mario, Luigi, and M-Emblem (the colors) are no longer marked as "inaccessible". This, originally, was done so that these colors meant for these specific characters were only options as prefcolors for their respective characters. However, this caused desyncs online, so for the time being they have been made regular colors once again. I'll pretend they're exclusive still just because it's less text to edit on my end.
  • All colors with spaces in their internal names have been changed to not use spaces. This is futureproofing so they can be used as prefcolors. On that note, Pride Flag's prefcolor has been changed to Trans Pride.
  • Bi Pride has been reworked to feature a more natural color ramp. This is a hint for future racers!
Juri is here!

Alongside Juri is a new follower, Pride Flag, and several housekeeping fixes.

  • Paper Mario has seen a minor face lift. He's been better positioned in the kart, and his arms and legs layer correctly relative to the steering wheel (even if it doesn't make perfect paper sense). He also more visibly twists during glance and lookback.
  • Lucas' icons have been revised. They just looked a little weird before.
  • The colors "Mario", "Luigi", and "M Emblem" have been locked to their respective characters. While these colors are inaccessible to the rest of the cast, these colors were already designed to only really work for these specific characters. If you're looking for similar analogues to use, Clash and Plague both work great.
  • "L Emblem", "W Emblem", and "WL Emblem" are now "Soda Lime", "Luster", and "Bluster" respectively. Following the previous point, these have seen minor retouches to work as more universal colors. I think they look great now!
  • Trans Pride has had its colors reversed. What this means is rather than going from light blue to dark pink, it goes from light pink to dark blue. This means this color renders correctly on the newly added Pride Flag follower! It also further sets it apart from Juri's custom color, Feng Shui.
Apologies if any of these updates cause any problems for anyone, but I think they were all for the best. There's a lot less clutter on the color select screen now while using this pack. I hope you enjoy racing with Juri and Pride Flag!
Hotfixes! Nothing huge.

There's now an included Lua variant for online-safe play. This version will be upkept so long as the bug persists in the game. Once it's gone, it'll be back to the one version with .soc color organization.

That said, files are a bit more optimized. All colors are now contained within one .soc/Lua file. This has no real bearing on players.

I've also added an extra color, Clash, to act as a more universal version of Mario's colors. This is based off of an old color I designed for SRB2Kart, but tweaked a bit to look a bit nicer across the board. For those wishing Mario's overalls were straight up blue, this is for you.
