Why is SRB2 deleting itself?

*GOOFYRAT!*

Gonna be gone a while. I'll be back!
I recently reinstalled SRB2 because the srb2win.exe deleted itself for some reason, but now every time I add a new one, it says it cannot find "the file path specified" and deletes itself again. It says I don't have access to it for some reason when I had it yesterday as well.

It might be your antivirus (if you have one), try disabling it

Nope. Didn't help. :[

Okay, so I installed a new version in a completely different area. It seems like something IN the computer is preventing SRB2 to run. Is there anything than could perhaps conflict with it? (I recently download MBAACC)

Okay, so Doctor Robotnik's Ring Racers is now doing it too for some reason??? It's the same error message. but SRB2Kart works fine for some reason???

Where did you install the games to? I have SRB2 in C:/Games/SRB2 v2.2 and DRRR in C:/Users/Use/RingRacers (because that's where it lived in my old & dead computer).

Also, as far as I'm aware, TextInputHost.exe is just some Windows thing for some stuff incluing touchscreen, stylus and the on-screen keyboard.

I had originally installed SRB2 into my Music directory, but when this happened, I moved it to a SRB2 Folder IN the Music directory, THEN tried a folder in the Downloads directory. None of them worked. Doctor Robotnik's Ring Racers was installed into a folder in a USB, and so was SRB2Kart.

That's odd. I heard in a few places that placing games in folders like Downloads or Desktop is bad, but haven't tested that myself. Try making a folder in your user folder (#:/Users/#####/), and putting the games there. If it doesn't work, I'll try replicating this on my end to find any other solution.

Indeed, on the SRB2 installer itself, it says not to put it in the Downloads directory. Why exactly, I'm not sure, maybe because it'll get buried.
I, myself, also put it in a "Users" folder, as well as it's own dedicated folder within that user's folder. I just feel like that's the reasonable thing to do. not saying your aren't reasonable

Did not work. Srb2win.exe still deleted itself. and said it couldn't find the path specified.

So I completely wiped my computer...(YEA.) and it still won't work. The same thing happens.

I put all of my fnf executables in downloads, and they work fine (although, it is a pretty simple game). As for the SRB2 deleting itself... yeah i have no idea how tf you can fix that. you seem to be on windows 11, do you have the latest version?

No, as in, the latest windows version

cause it seems to be that its your system thats causing it, since ive got mostly the same set up, and it works fine

Then, uhhh, I don't really have any idea what could be causing the game to delete itself. The last idea i have is, did you download the game through the archive releases? Or did you use the installer? I've had 2.2.15 for about a month or so (I cant be bothered to check) and it hasn't had this problem. i cant speak for ring racers, only had it for a week so far, but that could be the problem with it, that the installer isn't working properly
