Umm... If the red ring of death wasn't on purpose... than why would there even be a red light because you do have to put a light in there unless they
have some light that changes color during certain moments and it glitches
during the hardware failure and turns red.

I thought the red ring of death meant it overheated. I think if you put a towel over it for 30 minutes, the ring goes away. I don't know, just a thought.

Yeah this happened to me.

I had to send it off and get a new one. Thank god for 1 year warranty.

Wikipedia has an article of the Red ring of death.

The red ring of death is like a hardware failure, when some files that mean ALOT to the system/program gets deleted/replaced/ edited. Basically, the screen goes red, blue, yellow or green(Depending on the program/system).In this case, XBOX 360s have 2 rings- the ring of light when it starts up and when you plug in a contorller, and the ring of death, a red ring that can make you buy another system or download the program again.

I hope I don't have that problem.

Incorrect. A hardware failure is what it is. A HARDWARE failure. Not a SOFTWARE failure. When a hardware failure happens, the HARDWARE is stuffed, and won't boot up at all, won't show ANYTHING on the screen.
