Sound issues in a character WAD

I'm modifying a character WAD to have a different jump sound, and importing .WAV files. It sounds fine when I move over the entry in XWE, but when I play as the character, it sounds like nails on a chalkboard. How do I fix this?

By the way, to give details, the WAD I'm modifying originally had another unique jump sound, and it was about twice as long.

EDIT: I think it's because it's not in Doom Wave format, but my file is a 16-bit, not an 8-bit, and therefore XWE won't let me convert it. How can I get around this?

EDIT 2: Never mind...I got it worked out.
