This is the first in my new (at the time of this mod's release) collection of modded DRRR characters:
The RING RACERS RANDOMNESS PACK, A Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers custom character mod collection!​
MOD INTRO:
Another simple Ring Racers mod, but this time with POCOYO the Boy, PATO the Duck, ELLY the Elephant, and NINA the Girl as playable characters! Might update this some more and add more characters to the mix...​

Sprites are complete but I need to get SFX for her
 
You might've remembered me from a few days ago when I played on your server (I played as Pato in one round)

Here's the snippet of Pato's Song I was referring to for Pato's new winning line suggestion (which you probably already know, timestamp is 17-22s):

Also a few mistakes I'd like to point out:
- Pato's pref color is actually Garden, you may want to change the overview description. Same with Ruberto whose pref color is actually Grey
- Elly doesn't have a white background in her icons
- Nina has some non-colorable greens in her sprites, You may want to color remap her unless if that was intentional. (Translation String: "112:112=96:96")
- The black lump you see on the back sprites of the characters is actually the wheel, which you might want to cover it.

And some suggestions:
- If you plan to resprite any of these characters, I'd recommend doing them in bitmap mode the entire progress if you hadn't. Also maybe a few amount of shading in the characters?
- Since Pato's pref color is Garden, maybe you could also try making his hat recolorable? (Skincolor references below, you'll need it for any future characters you make)

- Yeah, I'd better get to fixing those things soon. Although, I'm still working on getting the Shimmer and Shine Pack complete, as well as planning for another RRRP installment...

- Oh my gosh, I didn't even think that the extra black part was the front of the wheel!

- Piggybacking off of this: Great, now I have to go into the RANDOMRACERS AND SHIMMER AND SHINE PACK files and edit them out of there. I think I might give a full redo of the POCOYO PACK to use a better Pato design similar to the one in the show, and fix everyone's icons and stuff.

- The garden palette is actually the same color as Pato's skin (excluding his beak and legs), That, AND the fact that this would increase the chances of this mod staying on the MB longer was why I went for that color instead of making his hat or beak recolorable.

- I've never really tried shading ring racers character sprites outside of icons and stuff, I might give it a shot, but it's gonna be brutal should I choose to do this or redo the entire pack in bitmap instead of doing it in vector first and then bitmapping it.

Massive glow up planned...

This is more of an announcement than an actual update lol:

I'm planning to give this mod (and some of the other mods I've done) one huge glow up, featuring...
  • Better Pato and Elly designs to match better with the ones from both eras (Zinkia & Animaj eras) of the show!
  • NEW ingame icons for all of the characters! (Bye bye, transparent ingame Elly icon!)
  • Character shading for the first time in my ring racers modding history! (There will still be flat versions included for those...

The Custom Follower Category Update!

BABY BIRD, PAJORITO, & RUBERTO have moved to a new follower category included with the mod!!! Say hello to the Pocoyo Pack Category. All of the future RING RACERS RANDOMNESS PACK installments that feature followers will have their own unique category from now on.

- POCOYO PACK V5 IMMINENT -
So me and Gab have been working on Pocoyo, Pato, Elly, and Nina's new sprites and sounds for V5 of the RRRP: Pocoyo Pack since around October 2024.
  • We've reached some pretty solid progress so far, with Pocoyo and Nina's new sprites and Pato and Elly's new sprites almost done.
While Gab finishes Pato and Elly, I'll find some new SFX for Pocoyo, and see if I can add Valentina the Caterpillar and the green Angry Alien to the Pocoyo Pack followers. This will be a side thing that I'll do BEFORE I continue trying to configure Shimmer and Shine's custom spray can color for their upcoming Pack. (If you've been in any of the recent #RandomRingRacers server sessions, you may have seen glimpses of Pocoyo, Nina, Pato, Elly, and Shimmer and Shine's new sprites and sounds before.)

The next Pocoyo Pack update will have Loula the Dog (6, 2), Fred the Octopus (3, 2), and the Green Alien (5, 5) as playable characters. I might try doing custom karts for everyone in this update and have that as an extra downloadable file.

When Series 5 of the Pocoyo series eventually drops and we officially get Bea/Pocoyina's introduction to the series, she'll also join the pack, and that will be the last update for a little bit, as I'll shift focus to the Shimmer and Shine Pack.

We don't have a final release date for V5 yet, but I'll let you know when the update is ready to drop.

You know, I think I might also make Angry Alien a playable character as well as a follower, his custom UFO would make a perfect addition to the world of DRRR custom karts...

POCOYO'S 20th ANNIVERSARY IS NEAR!! (It's almost January 7th, 2025!) I'm hoping to get POCOYO PACK V5 out before then or Immediately on that day. I hope Gab's able to finish Pato and Elly's new sprites before the big day comes around...
