We all know that digital games comes with a expensive price, so most of us wait patiently for an opportunity to buy games on sale. But when does newly release games will go on sale?

My apologies if my english sucks. :worry:

But when does newly release games will go on sale?
That generally depends on the developer and if they want to participate, the publisher if they want to make it go on sale, the platform it was released on, and if there's any holiday going on lol.

To give an uneducated example with Steam games, Steam lets the one publishing the game to the store front put their game on sale anytime they want for any reason and price they want.

Developers may have varying reasons to make the game go on sale. Making one at random tends to be weird and it might go unnoticed, so sales happen after something big or interesting. For example, when the game exits early access and gets a proper 1.0 relase, or after a big update that adds something everyone was waiting for (a big one is a singleplayer game getting a multiplayer update! a sale would promote buying more copies as gifts), or... more or less for whatever reason lololol

If the devs don't have a good reason for a sale, Steam offers different "events" that developers/publishers can participate on, the bigger ones being the Winter Sale and the Summer Sale as you'd probably know.
Sometimes, Steam also offers some smaller sale events (the "fests") to promote a particular theme or genre, like for example the "Turn-Based Fest" or the "Rhythm Fest" that we got a few months ago.

However, even with these events or knowing a trend of what devs do, it doesn't guarantee that a game will be on sale. Again, it depends on the developer and if they *want* to participate.
See Factorio, for example. Factorio never goes on sale, and will never be on sale. It will always be a full price game, and the price will only keep increasing as the game is polished further, making the best time to purchase it be "now".

You can always ask the developers to see if a game you want will go on sale anytime soon (you might not get the response you want though), and if you use Steam, you can use sites like SteamDB to look at the price trend of the game and decide when would it be a good time to buy it.
