Peace Out

Hello, everyone.

I am retiring from the SRB2 scene. My interest in Sonic-related content is waning, and it's important for me to prioritize my own projects right now.

I am proud to have helped out here and there in the SRB2 scene over the last few years. The opportunity to help revive the OLDC events will always be a highlight of my time here. I'd like to thank the SRB2 community staff for keeping things running from here on out. Thanks also to everyone else keeping this game alive over the years.

I will never forget the friends I made here.
Sayonara. Seventh, the Sentinel...

Sev has done a SHITLOAD of real hard work as an administrator, I saw it firsthand myself. He was the one who really dug into Xenforo's forum software and learned how to use it all himself, before anyone else had a clue what we were looking at. I've never seen him as a particularly techy kind of guy, so him doing that and amassing that technical knowledge showed the dedication AND was critically helpful :wonderful: For the next long while whenever any of the rest of us couldn't figure things out it always ended in a "we will just have to wait for Sev to come back online..." 😂

I always say one of the most important qualities in leadership isn't always having perfect judgment, but having the wisdom to consult others before you make decisions you might fuck up. That's a really important quality that is shockingly hard to find, and I feel like Sev exemplified what it means to be a good leader in that regard: He's genuinely a really humble guy who is super willing to step up to the plate and sacrifice his own time and money, but also has the presence of mind to know when it's best to let another person tackle something.

In general, I have loads of respect for him as a very upstanding and hard working guy. He's a got a lot of integrity; having hung out in person, I feel that extra strongly. I hope the SRB2 community always has people as calm and reliable as him at its helm.

Wish this could've been timed a bit longer after the last departure announcement, but then again it is quite common for people to eventually seek something new after sticking with a game for many years. Good luck on your projects and feel free to pop in now and then, we'll still be here if you decide to come back in the future.

Damn this guy was great was he

Later man. It's been fun, hope you do well in all you pursue!

Sev's been a fantastic steward for this community, with all the energy and effort he's put into helping others understand things like map creation. There have been multiple times where a void has made itself known, for one reason or another, and Sev has been the one to step up to the challenge - to a degree which is not only respectable but commendable.

But before all that, we were young adults on the internet messing around with our creativity! And it's always been inspiring seeing his work and bouncing ideas and excitement in the projects we've shared. The Snap the Sentinel E1 soundtrack is one of my power-walk exercise playlists, but that's just one of the more recent examples of his juices in action - while the older WIPs are probably lost to time I know I've had this fondness for his style forever.

It helps with everything that he's fundamentally an upstanding and really lovely guy at his core, too.

Good luck, dude! I can't wait to see what you do next!

still hope to see you online from here and then!!!

Aw man, I joined the community just in time to see some of the biggest people in it leaving?
In all honesty though, I wish you well in your own endeavors, and God bless you.

An absolute GOAT. Your mapping tutorial was absolutely indispensable to me and helped get me into modding this game back in the early days of 2.2, and the work you did for both the OLDC and Ring Racers cannot be understated. You always made an effort to be a positive face of the community and I remember you always being a pleasant person to interact with. Rather than be saddened by your departure I will choose to remember the contributions you made for this community and for that you have my utmost respect. I wish you the best in your future endeavours, Mr. SeventhSentinel.

Thank you for all of the contributions to this fantastic community that is built and sustained by people such as yourself. And in the words of Sally Acorn "Do it to it!" and the words of Optimus Prime "Till all are one", have a wonderful life!
