Nintendo Controllers in Local Multiplayer Won't Work

I've been playing Ring Racers since launch, and now that I'm back in college, I've started introducing my friends to it. The only problem is that I use Nintendo-styled controllers (8Bitdo specifically), and they seem to have an issue cooperating in local co-op.

I set all my controllers to be as close to a Mario Kart layout as I can; assigning the A button to drive, and by extension confirm, on everyone's profiles. However, these controllers are all interpreted by my PC as Xbox controllers, meaning that the B button and A button are swapped for players 2, 3, and 4 until they select a profile.

Because of this, anyone who is not player one is unable to select a profile. Players have to use the B button to select their profile. But pressing B a single time results in the game selecting the profile, updating the control scheme to recognize B as the back button, and immediately returning to the list of profiles. All of this happening within a couple of frames after pressing B.

Does anyone happen to know a workaround for this?

Do the controllers have a feature where they can switch "modes" when you hold down a certain button combo?
If they do, switch all of the modes on the controllers. (The following is assuming you use Windows) You can use the "Set up USB game controllers" application to check what your computer recognizes them as.

If that isn't the case, there might be some kind of software out there that changes what controllers are recognized as, but I don't know of anything like that.
You might just have to change the control scheme on each of the profiles. (Or get new controllers altogether, but that's not exactly a good last resort.)
