I downloaded saved files-Dont hate me, I had good reason.

My son has been working very hard at trying to get all the extras and emblems only to find out a few hours ago, all the gamedata is gone ( no idea why)
This is the 2nd time its happened so I just downloaded and moved save files over. Its working but it says " Warning game is modified progress wont be saved"

Now, why? just why? How can I fix this pretty please

Did the file you get say srb2sav(saveslotnumber).ssg?

yes I did ( see attachment) In the 'read me' note it said to not save all versions together because saves wont work so I put version 2.2 in it's own file and then moved it into the srb2 file. The error message under the save files in game says " warning: this game is modded and wont save"

I see I only get that message when I try use an addon! How do I get around that? Its worked just fine with mods before when I had my otiginal game saves (before they vanished) I was able to use lots of mods

Generally saying, srb2 dosen't save when you add a mod so it dosen't break vanilla but I don't know if that's the case anymore, when I use mods, I choose to not save but I don't know if this is a glitch or something because srb2 never says that "game is modified and won't save", I don't know if this helps but you could trying using the custom save data mod and then merge your save data and gamedata to the custom savedata

Recent updates have made it so you are allowed to save your progress with add-ons loaded. Make sure your son is on the latest version of the game (2.2.13). You can see the game's version in the title of the window. Aside from that, make sure to back up your save data regularly so that if something happens to it you can restore from a backup. The relevant files for this are gamedata.dat and srb2sav<save slot number>.ssg.
