DS Light (L buttons starting to give out :/)

SEGA megadrive (how it's known for sega genesis)
Game Boy
Game Boy color
Game Boy Advance (my D pad is screwed, it won't go left without squeezing your thumb to death on the left side of the D pad)
Game Boy Advance SP
PS1 (never use it)
Gamecube (I still use this quite a bit)
Nintendo DS (original)
Nintendo Wii

Maybe theres dirt there? Try getting a toothpick or something. And scraping it across the side with the toothpick. It should work.

Heh. Same thing happened to me but it stopped working completely and before I got to repair it, someone stole it.
(sucks that they forgot the stylus, charger and the system has a broken L button. :P)

Same but with mine, the down wouldn't work.
I took it apart and cleaned it and it began working properly again.
