Some people don't seem to get it.
Okay, for a second, let's assume that everyone in the channel didn't care and wanted to act like a moron, which I'll note is directly against the rules, despite the fact that all the ops have netsplitted off the server.
Now, let's say you're all acting like retards in the channel, and some newbie joins the channel, one that might actually be intelligent. What would his first impression of our channel be? Would that first impression be accurate?
You say there is no harm in it because no one cares, but the ops obviously care, so that should be reason enough to nullify that argument. It's clearly against the rules. If you want to spam and be idiots, do it in another channel. It's better for some newbie to join in the middle of the netsplit to see a dead channel than for him to join and see you all acting like bleeding retards. If that newbie happened to be the slightest bit intelligent (the kind of newbies we actually want to KEEP), he'd probably leave and never come back. Just a wonderful result, huh?
