Making a character appear in the Character Select

How exactly do I do it? I looked through SRB2.SRB, sonic.plr and SPMoves.wad, but I found nothing in relation to doing it.
 
first, you could use the faq page on the addons page, or you could use srb2net thingy on the addons page and upload the charactor to the thing and highlight the file in it and call it whatever you want
 
Check Blaze's topic in the archives, it explains how to acheive that through SOC editing. I have no clue what the guy above is trying to say, but it's not the solution.
 
Last time I checked, SOC editing wasn't really required. The shadow WAD doesn't have any soc lumps or anything of the sort, but it still appears above Sonic in the chara select, along with JetKrazy's Sonic Adventure DX Sonic WAD.
 
Note: For 1.09, there is an extra field that you need to do for Character Select Screen editing.
 
sorry, it's been WAY too long since I did the Shadow wad and I don't remember what I did, but I do remember talking to Mystic about what to do, though I may be wrong
